Diamond

January 31, 2014·the shadowshine years

Diamonds shine as bright as her,
but she can’t see — can’t see the mirror.
Shining so brightly, she’s unsure:
just what makes her so insecure?

Her love would outweigh the good and bad;
her love — better when we’re mad.
And madly is what we are:
falling madly further in love.

The other diamonds turn to dust —
humility is what makes her pure.
The other diamonds drown in lust,
but fire makes her more assured.

Her love would outweigh the good and bad;
her love — better when we’re mad.
And madly is what we are:
falling madly further in love.

The pain is real now and then;
just hold on tightly to your soul.
For when the pain won’t come again,
what comes instead is self-control —

control that makes a person whole
and creates within the wondrous goals,
creating life that’s all so full,
but also life that’s never dull.

Her love would outweigh the good and bad;
her love — better when we’re mad.
And madly is what we are:
falling madly further in love.
