Perversion of Light

A man kills a helpless child
in a meadow green, the flowers wild.
Black sky, sun red and veiled —
there is a peace that feels prevailing.

The streams run ripe with life and color,
the blood-soaked ground amid the squalor;
amid the aster-blown aroma
lies a man in human coma.

Innocent, he’s still in nature,
forever locked by this dark creature.
An owl, though wise, observes the curse:
though we are wise, we are perverse.
